IGLTA 2016 a big success

More than 300 delegates participated in the 33rd Annual IGLTA Global Convention in Cape Town (14-16 April), making it IGLTA's largest conference outside of North America. The historic first conference in Africa included five IGLTA Foundation-supported educational tour options within the local communities and an IGLTA Foundation reception that raised more than $5,000 for education, advocacy and information sharing related to LGBT tourism.

Tourism Society prestigious Annual Dinner at the House of Lords

This evening the Tourism Society held its prestigious Annual Dinner at the House of Lords, hosted by the Society's President Lord Thurso MP FTS and attended by Society members and their guests. The black-tie evening included a drinks reception followed by a delicious three-course meal sponsored by made.

Following the after-dinner speeches Lord Thurso presented the Tourism Society Award to Timothy West and Prunella Scales for their popular television series ‘Great Canal Journeys’. Unfortunately they were unable to pick up the award in person due to filming commitments, but Dani Neumann from Spun Gold TV was on hand to receive the award on their behalf from Lord Thurso.

BBC Music Awards 2015

Tonight made's Natalie Browne and Jonathan Mountford attended the second BBC Music Awards at Birmingham's Genting Arena. Adele was the big winner picking up two awards including best British artist of the year. The ceremony, hosted by Chris Evans and Fearne Cotton, included brilliant performances from Years and Years, Ellie Goulding and James Bay. One Direction also gave one of their final live performances before going on a break in 2016.

UKinbound General Meeting - November 2015

Tonight BBC New Broadcasting House hosted the UKinbound November General Meeting. The building is worldwide headquarters of the BBC and sits right in the heart of central London. The BBC runs tours of the building regularly throughout the day which can be booked in advance via BBC Tours. Natalie Browne and Rosie Ranford from made stepped inside the exciting world of broadcasting! They were shown the studio, which is home to ‘The One Show'. The tour guides explained how the nightly topical magazine programme is put together. Photographed are the UKinbound delegation on the famous sofa where many favourite celebrities and personalities have sat and been interviewed by Matt, Alex and Chris! The Broadcasting House Tour is available seven days a week.

Happy Birthday ALVA!

An exceptional and wonderful evening last night at the Houses of Parliament, London, to mark ALVA's (Association of Leading Visitor Attractions) 25th Anniversary; drinks in the Speaker's apartments, a private tour and group photo inside the Commons chamber, dinner in the Members' Dining Room, speeches by Loyd Grossman and 'Top Chops' the famously bewhiskered Deputy Sergeant At Arms, all with a suffragette theme. Jonathan from team made was delighted to have been invited by our friend and colleague Bernard Donoghue.
